Map, Measure and Maximise your Impact with Y-East

Team Y-East has more than 5 years of expertise in Social Impact Assessment and aims to support all its members and others in adopting and enhancing this global managerial best practice, which is now required by most national legislations around the world and systematically implemented by most companies worldwide through budget-friendly consultancy offers.

The most recent assignment by Y-East was undertaken in the month of February 2021 where a team of 6 Research Associates visited 40 villages across Giridih, Koderma and Nawada in Jharkhand and Bihar to collect data for a social impact assessment study of the Community Empowerment Program that was running for the past two years by Responsible Mica Initiative, a global ‘do-tank’ of multiple organizations committed to establishing a fair, responsible and sustainable mica supply chain in the states of Jharkhand and Bihar in India that will eliminate unacceptable working conditions and eradicate child labor by 2022.

Y-East was supported by French consultancy, (IM)prove in designing, pre-testing and finalising the data collection tools. The methodology followed by Y-East was I-Cube – ‘Immersion, Impact and Improvement’ developed by (IM)PROVE 15 years ago. The key concepts embraced for this particular study were:
– Ex-post facto research design where the data is collected from beneficiaries retrospectively to analyse social impact generated by the program over the period since its inception.
– Random sampling of respondents to remove any form of bias
– Quantitative surveys + Qualitative interviews collected over Kobo Toolbox App and recorded on smartphones
