Nature Mates has been working for conservation of flora and fauna throughout West Bengal and in other states of the country. It is involved in several scientific research programs in collaboration with state, national and international organizations. Rescuing wildlife in distress and handing them over to the forest department for proper rehabilitation is another activity of Nature Mates. It has also conducted many awareness campaigns against unethical wildlife hunting and illegal wildlife trade along with the forest department, promoted biodiversity gardening as an important conservation model using butterflies as the key species, worked on animal-human conflict and habitat restoration.
